Marion Cotillard was born in Paris, France with the desire to become a singer. She was introduced to acting instead, getting cast in small roles in French productions when she was still a teenager. In 1998, she landed her first prominent role in TAXI, a film written by Luc Besson, and went on to reprise her role as "Lili" in two of the three sequels that were made from that film afterward. Marion is the daughter of French actor/playwright/director Jean-Claude Cotillard. In 2003, she was brought to English speaking audiences by Tim Burton in his film BIG FISH. However, Cotillard rocketed to mainstream success and acclaim for her Best Actress Oscar winning role in LA VIE EN ROSE, where she took on playing singer Edith Piaf in the biopic. Marion got a chance to demonstrate her singing skills in the 2009 film NINE and continues to be a favorite of popular directors such as Christopher Nolan, who cast her in his high-concept film INCEPTION in 2010.
