Born in Downers Grove, Illinois and raised in Chicago, Denise Richards became a California girl when her family relocated to Oceanside when she was 15 years old and began working as a model. Broke out into acting in the early 1990's with small roles on television shows like "Saved by the Bell" and "Married... With Children." Continued with modeling and smaller acting roles until 1997 when she had a breakout role in the critically panned but cult classic-successful movie STARSHIP TROOPERS. The late 1990's provided Richards with some of her better success, in which she starred in movies like WILD THINGS and DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. Denise met her future husband and father to her 2 daughters, Charlie Sheen, while the two filmed the direct-to-video movie GOOD ADVICE. The couple were married from 2002 until 2006, after many incidents in the tabloid press detailed the falling apart of their marriage and the nasty child custody battles that ensued. Richards began a moderately successful reality television career in 2008 with the short-lived series, "It's Complicated." She continues to act occasionally in small budget direct-to-video movies.
