Originally born a blonde in Knoxville, Tennessee, Hendricks began dying her hair its trademark red when she was a teenager, some time after moving to Twin Falls, Idaho. While a teen, she moved to Fairfax, Virginia where she became involved in school plays and was later discovered and contracted to be a model. At a young age she was cast in a Visa commercial with Pierce Brosnan. She began the heart of her acting career on television, beginning with a small reoccurring role on MTV's "Undressed." With small roles in a couple of Joss Whedon chows, including "Angel" and "Firefly," it wasn't until she was cast as Joan Holloway in the series "Mad Men" that Christina began her rise to the sex bomb status that she has been enjoying since 2007. Best known for her voluptuous curves, Hendricks has taken heat from the fashion community for being bigger than the average actress, labeled as "fat" by many designers. In 2010, was featured in Health magazine for promoting a healthy body image.
