Daughter of country western singer Naomi Judd and sister to singer Wynonna Judd, Ashley was born in Granada Hills, California with the birth name Ashley Tyler Ciminella. She began her movie career in the 1992 film, KUFFS, with a smaller role than was first offered to her because she refused to do any nude scenes her first film, but has become more well known for her willingness to get nude on screen, much to the dismay of her famous mother. she attended the University of Kentucky but dropped out in 1990 a few credits short of graduating in order to pursue acting. In the film SOMEONE LIKE YOU, Judd used the cheerleading cheer routine and thanks them in the credits of the film. Ashley is as well known for her history of dating famous men such as Michael Bolton and Matthew McConaughey as she is for her acting career. In 2001, she married race car driver Dario Franchitti.
